Firstly, Webinars are fun to host if you have a good number of viewers but it’s equally challenging to convince reputed speakers if you do not have those viewers. I think you should only host a webinar if your reasoning is to engage with the audience, and not just sharing knowledge or pitching your product. If it's later you could probably consider shooting a video as you can do much better with quality & the content.

But once you have decided on Hosting a webinar, it comes with a lot of challenges for a newbie not only in terms of gettings things off the ground but also in driving registrations from your target audience.

There are a bunch of things you should be doing to get your promotions off the ground, but before that here is a checklist to help you start your webinar planning [Link to Checklist Blog]

The first few things to do when promoting your webinar is to get a high converting landing page.

Start with Email! — Lookup all old databases, make a list of all leads/prospects that have reached out to you at some point in the last couple of years & send out an invitation/email.

Update Websites that list Webinars — Here are a few, Webinara, Eventbrite, Facebook Events, etc. These are low hanging fruits that will get you a few easy registrations.

Banner Ads on Target Blogs/Portals — Hitting the hammer on the head is important to make an impact. To get the right attendees, advertise where they mostly hangout/visit. A banner that is supremely Click worthy will help in generating registrations.

Email to Subscribers of other relevant Blog’s— Email to the audience of other blog/portal will aid in generating a bunch of registrations. Although this would necessarily cost some $$$, it will help generate the initial traction & the right set of the audience.

Publicizing on Social media — While posting on social media is necessary, it is supremely important to get your speakers to share about the webinar and getting them to share tidbits on what their followers could expect from the webinar. Try to specify at least 3 takeaways from attending the webinar.

Blog about your webinar — Write a short blog on the topic related to the webinar, share some knowledge & create larger suspense to the topic & end with CTA asking people to attend the webinar to know more. After the webinar, you could edit the blog & share the recorded version of the webinar!

Also do not forget to ask for high-resolution photos of your speakers & also their social media handles. These become super important while starting promotion for your webinar!

Here are a bunch of other things you could do to amplify your webinar.

  1. Promote it on a Hello Bar
  2. Implement an Exit-Intent Pop-up
  3. Create a Teaser Video
  4. Post it to Webinar Listing Sites
  5. Promote it in Your Email Signatures
  6. Add it to Your Thank You Pages
  7. Put a Call-to-Action at the Bottom of Your Blog Articles
  8. Write an Article on third party websites.
  9. Attach a Lead Magnet
  10. Employ an Email Workflow
  11. Build Hype on Social Media
